Suzanne's Tale of Triumph and Transformation Through Holistic Practices

Gracefully Jen Season 3 Episode 30

There's nothing more humbling than hearing the story of someone who's faced the gauntlet of health challenges and emerged with wisdom to share. That's precisely what you'll get as Suzanne Casamento joins us to recount her battles with chronic Lyme disease, medical gaslighting, and a complexity of health issues that would test anyone's resolve. Her story isn't just a sequence of struggles; it's a beacon for anyone who's felt unheard or misunderstood by the medical system, and it's packed with insights into the importance of advocating for your own health.

As we unravel Suzanne's narrative, we venture into the lesser-traveled paths of healing, discussing the profound effects of alternative therapies. From the muscle testing and Chinese herbs that brought Suzanne relief to my transformative encounters with acupuncture and Ayurvedic medicine, this conversation deeply explores the body's capacity to heal in non-traditional ways. It's a chapter for the curious and the seekers who believe that recovery goes beyond prescriptions and that our bodies sometimes whisper the solutions we need.

In our journey with Suzanne, we unmask the power of detoxing both emotionally and physically through modalities such as AmpCoil therapy, breathwork, and energy work. This episode examines the interconnectedness of our emotional states and physical health, a lesson in how our unresolved traumas manifest as persistent pain. As a Lyme survivor and now a practitioner, she offers a glimpse into my practice and how to help clients find balance and peace. It's a testament to the strength of vulnerability and an invitation to open your mind to the healing potential that may lie just outside the bounds of conventional medicine.

Jen:

Hi my Spoonie sisters. It's your host, Jen, and I am thrilled to introduce to you a new Spoonie sister. This is Suzanne Casamento. Hi, Suzanne, how are you today?

Suzanne:

I'm doing great. Thanks so much for having me. How are you?

Jen:

I am doing well and I'm just so excited to sit down and hear all about you and your journey and what you do. And yeah, I'm here for it.

Suzanne:

Awesome, me too.

Jen:

Well, do you mind kind of taking us back to the very beginning? And you were sick with chronic Lyme disease. Do you want to walk us through that?

Suzanne:

Sure, yeah, I mean we should go all the way back to being bitten by a tick. So in 2003, I was visiting family on the East Coast in New Jersey and I was bitten by a tick. I had the classic bull's-eye rash which appeared. I mean, it was giant on my back and it was like I mean just red, inflamed, horrible. It was giant. So it was so painful that I was walking half bent over because it just it hurt too much to stand up. That said, I didn't know. I didn't know at the time that only 50% of people who were bitten by ticks get that rash, so some people don't know that they've ever been bitten. Wow, yeah, so in that way, I was very fortunate that mine was so persistent and horrible, because I knew exactly what had happened. So I went to a local doctor who misprescribed me and gave me amoxicillin, which is not the right drug.

Suzanne:

And then what I know. I know, and it's like I know that you know I've listened to your show, obviously and I know that that's a common thing, right that a lot of women will go to the doctor and then they're misprescribed, and then you know it's just yeah. So let's start with that.

Jen:

Yeah, so where did you go from there?

Suzanne:

So I actually went to the emergency room a few days later because I was in such pain and it wasn't getting any better after three days or so of the amoxicillin, and so I knew something was wrong. And I went to the emergency room and the doctor there told me that I was being dramatic and I should just go home.

Jen:

Wait what? Yeah, that's not okay.

Suzanne:

I know it's not okay, it's not okay.

Jen:

Wow Okay.

Suzanne:

Yeah, so I was. So he actually said a moxicillin. You've been prescribed a moxicillin. That's the right drug. Go home, he said. Stop being dramatic, Go home. It was so condescending. And so I went home and the pain persisted and then, thankfully, a friend of mine called and said I heard you got Lyme disease. And I was like, oh my God, why didn't I call her? Because she had had it for years. And she sent me to an expert and that expert then put me on the correct drug, which was doxycycline, and then I broke out into a huge rash from head to toe, which I didn't realize at the time was probably what they call a Herxheimer reaction.

Jen:

I've heard about that.

Suzanne:

Yeah, meaning that the bugs start to die off and they try to exit anyway they can. So for me that was through my skin. But instead she changed the prescription and I went to it and I took another drug called Sefton, which of course was $800. So, and this is in 2003. And so I took the Sefton and then I went home to Los Angeles and then one night, while I was sleeping, a black widow spider bit me in my sleep. No, I know.

Jen:

Because things aren't bad enough. Let's make it a lot worse.

Suzanne:

Exactly. You can't make this up. And so then I went to a doctor who said oh my God, because I had these tracks, like red tracks for my elbow, where it bit me up to my neck. And so I went to a doctor in Los Angeles who said you've been bitten by a black widow spider and I have to put you on this incredibly strong drug. He said it's really expensive but you've got to get it. It's called Sefton.

Jen:

And I said I'm on Sefton.

Suzanne:

And he said why are you on Sefton? I said I have Lyme disease. He said where'd you get Lyme disease? I said New Jersey. It wasn't good. And so then he said, if you weren't on the Sefton, you'd be dead right now. So that was the beginning of my Lyme journey.

Jen:

That is so much I know. Well, at least you finally found a doctor to take you seriously.

Suzanne:

Yes, yes, you did take me seriously. Yes, yes, I found another antibiotic for the spider bite and then I continued with the Sefton for the Lyme. And then he said come back in three months and get a Titer test, which was the most advanced test at the time or, I guess, the most well-known test at the time. And I took the Titer and he said it's negative. You're good to go forget. You ever had Lyme. So I did, and that was in 2003.

Jen:

Okay, so my question is did you have symptoms after that? Did it really go away?

Suzanne:

No, it did not go away. So in 2012, I actually for the next, you know, nine years ago, just functioned normally. I did not have symptoms for the next nine years or so. I mean, of course, you know, I had the things that many of us experience and think are normal, like chronic yeast infections and feeling fatigue and things like that, but I thought it was normal and so or that was my normal, I should say, for the next nine years or so. But then in 2012, I moved into a place that, unbeknownst to me, had mold in it and that re-triggered Lyme disease and it showed up for me, which of course, I didn't know at the time. I didn't know there was Lyme and I didn't know there was mold in the place and I couldn't smell it, couldn't see it, couldn't, just had no idea.

Suzanne:

And for me, lyme attacked my excretory systems. So it always attacks your weakest systems, and so Lyme isn't what people think Lyme is. You know, people think it's swelling at the joints and joint pain and symptoms like that, and it can be those symptoms for some people. But it will attract, it will attack your weakest systems, and so for me that meant my excretory system. So I had chronic urinary tract infections and kidney infections, bladder infections, I had chronic vaginal infections and then I started to have chronic lung infections and I had no idea what was happening. And so I went to doctor after doctor who just kept saying things like well, your tests need to be fine and you look pretty good. And are you sure this isn't in your head? So I know, look at you.

Jen:

We know how we feel. You can look one way and feel a whole other way. That's not okay to say.

Suzanne:

Absolutely not okay to say. Not okay to say. But I didn't know at the time. I didn't. I really didn't know what to do. And a friend told me he said you have to go see doctor Matt. He does this thing where he taps on you and puts these little vials in between your fingers and figures out what's wrong with you. And I said this sounds crazy, you know. He said just go. He said this is my friend, james. And he said when I was diagnosed with MS, I went to doctor Matt and he gave me some. He gave me some herbs and told me to quit drinking coffee and I was fine. And I said you were diagnosed with MS. And he said, yeah, I didn't have MS. So I mean yeah.

Suzanne:

So I went to go see doctor Matt and he did just just what I just described put these little vials in between my hands and pulled fingers apart and things like that. And he started to give me Chinese herbs for for my symptoms and they did help. And then I went to one of his partners who eventually ended up tapping on my face. And she was tapping on my face and she said you're living in a place that has mold in it and you have to move immediately. To which I laughed because at the time I was completely broke and my best friend was dying of breast cancer and I was trying to keep her alive and her babies alive and it was. I was just in fight-or-flight and of course I was not able to move in the middle of that and also I thought how do you know this from tapping on my face?

Jen:

Yeah, I think that would be what a lot of us would question. You're tapping on my face. How does that scream mold? Please explain, please explain. I want to know exactly so I Didn't.

Suzanne:

I kind of didn't believe her. And so a few weeks later I went to my Closet and I pulled out a black t-shirt and it had like this white powdery film on it and I was like what the heck is that you?

Suzanne:

know, and then I thought and I was trying to, I was About, I was going to work and I had to leave and I didn't have time to mess with it and so I pulled out another t-shirt and it had the white powdery film on it. I was like, oh my god, what is this? Could it be mold? And so I went outside, I put it in the sunlight and then the white powdery film disappeared, because mold of you know, sun will kill mold spores. And I was like, oh my god, that woman was right, I've got a move. What am I gonna do? So?

Jen:

so that was that was the first moment of oh, you know, there's other stuff out there and yeah yeah, well, and I'm still trying to figure out why she didn't explain herself a little better and say this is how I know. Yeah.

Suzanne:

I mean. So she, she, that was her version of muscle testing, and so she was doing muscle testing With the herbs where she could she would. If I could keep my fingers together, it would mean that that herb was a good match for me. My body wanted it. If she could pull them apart, it meant that's not a good herb for me.

Suzanne:

So she was also able to tap on my face and tell me other things, like she at one point tapped on my face and said do you have a metal filling in your, in your on the upper right side of your mouth? And I said yes, and she said you have to get it removed. There's, it's leaking and there's bacteria behind it. And I and I was like, oh my god, what you know, how do I get a metal filling removed? I go to a dentist and say you need to take this out, and she said and she said, yeah, I mean you can go to my dentist if you want.

Suzanne:

So I went to her dentist and he and he tested that Filling and said, no, she's right, it's cracked, it's infected, there's bacteria behind it and and you need to have it taken out. And there was. And then there was another metal filling that he eventually took out my mouth. All my metal fillings are now gone. But so weird things like that she would. She would tell me these crazy things and then after a while I just started believing them because she was always right.

Jen:

I think in the beginning it kind of sounds like voodoo magic of some sort, and then it's like oh, wow, okay, well, you're proving yourself time and time again. Okay, now, what? Now? What do I do?

Suzanne:

Yes, yes, and that's kind of how my lime journey went overall. Right, you know I would go to Western doctors and they would say things like well, your chest looks fine or oh, but you have high cholesterol. I want to put you on a statin. Meanwhile I'm green, most of my hair is falling out, my big toenails have fallen off, I Mean, I have daily fevers. I Don't spend much time at a bed and you're and you're gonna put me on a statin for my cholesterol. That's your answer. I, why not think about why is the cholesterol high? Because the liver is not functioning, because you know, I've got chronic Lyme disease. I just so things like that would happen when I go to a Western doctor. Meanwhile I would go to, like an acupuncturist. Or I went to, went to an acupuncturist and an Ayurvedic Specialist who asked me to stick out my tongue, and when I did, they both said you've got kidney damage, you've got liver damage, there's something going on in your, in your lungs. You've got a deep fungal infection. I'm looking at my tongue.

Jen:

Yeah, yeah, but I'm assuming they're right. Yeah, they were right, wow, okay. So what were the next steps from here? Yeah, so.

Suzanne:

So the journey kind of continues like that. I I Started to try. I started, I realized, okay, I'm not getting anything from these Western medical or Western doctors, except bills very expensive, incredibly, you know, at that point, you know, my, my debt kept growing and growing, growing. I was in such medical debt it was, I mean, like $65,000 at that point, and On top of that my family had been helping. You know, my mom would pay for, for this doctor, my dad would pay for that doctor, you know, and I was 40 something years old and so it was. It was horrible.

Suzanne:

So I, so I, when I encountered things like this woman who, who knew that I was living in mold by tapping on my face, or when I went, I went, when I went to an active puncturist or an Ayurvedic expert who knew what was happening with my body by looking at my tongue, I just started to realize, okay, I'm not gonna get the answers from Western medicine. I need to. I'm gonna try all this woo-woo stuff. You know, at the time I considered it all to be very woo-woo. So I had already gone to a natural path to a homeopath, and so I then went to.

Suzanne:

I went to an osteopath who was amazing who. So I had a urologist tell me that I needed to have surgery on my bladder because, like I would, I, when I I would have a full bladder and need to to urinate, but I would sit on the toilet and just like press, press, push, push, push, push, push and nothing would come out. It was so incredibly painful. It would take me like 10 minutes to actually get it out or to get things moving. And so I went to a urologist and he said you've got to have Surgery on your bladder. And I was like, oh my god, you know I mean sounds insane, right.

Jen:

Did you say why?

Suzanne:

That it wasn't functioning, it wasn't, it wasn't that it wasn't releasing properly, and so I walked out of there, of course, so upset, and I had a friend, jenny, who was having she, she actually had breast cancer and, different from the other friend who was dying, they both died and I know it was. So trauma, a lot of trauma is happening, all you know, at the same time so so much.

Suzanne:

Yeah, and so Jenny, jenny recommended this osteopath. I went to this osteopath and he, like I mean, he was doing these manual manipulations and kind of just moving things in my pelvis and moving my legs and my feet and did all these manual Manipulations. I walked out of there, went home, sat on the toilet and the pee fell out, no surgery required I. So it was like things like that, just magic moments with these doctors who were not traditional doctors, and then from there I just went totally woo-woo. So that osteopath recommended a shaman. So I went to the shaman and I went to a Reiki master and an energy healer and I did breath work, meditation and EFT tapping and just tried all of the somatic therapy, all of these things to try to get my mind, body and spirit reconnected. And I just kept getting better and better.

Suzanne:

And then in 2018, I was still not well. I had when I say better and better, I mean little shift, better and better. And so in the beginning of 2018, I had thousands and thousands of dollars worth of supplements in my cabinets and I was in incredible medicals at. I had spent $20,000 out of pocket for medical care the year before and I was so sick I only made $31,000 that year. So obviously that math is inverted and I knew I had to do something different in 2018. And so I Googled best energy healer in LA and I found Garce Chan, this amazing energy healer, and I started to work with her, where she started to work on traumas and clearing trauma from the body.

Suzanne:

And then I bought an amp coil. I had heard about amp coil over and over, which is the sound and PEMF technology. Pemf stands for post-alert electromagnetic fields, so an energy machine. It helps to shift energy. And so I went and I tried one and I asked for a sign before I tried it and what I had been telling people was that I was 75% and I just couldn't get past 75% and I wanted to get to 100%. And so I went to go try this the amp coil and I asked the practitioner were you sick too? And she said yes, and I said so, what's your story? What happened? And she said over the years, I tried so many different modalities and she said and I got to 75%, but I just couldn't get past the 75% and I thought there's my sign right.

Suzanne:

And so I tried the amp coil and I did what's a harmonizer journey and I walked in there with like brain fog, feeling like I had a helmet on my head and just very fatigued, and I walked out just like brighter. I just felt like some of that brain fog had lifted, some of the fatigue had lifted, some of the helmet had lifted and I thought, oh my gosh, if in 27 minutes I can feel a shift, imagine what would happen if I owned this machine. So I called a friend and I borrowed $8,000, because I thought either I can pay another $20,000 for Western medicine and supplements and things like that over the next year or I can try this crazy thing and maybe only spend $8,000 that year. And so in 2018, I ended up spending $10,000 total on my medical care, with the amp coil included, and I haven't been to a doctor since.

Jen:

That's incredible. Yeah, that's pretty cool. Okay, so explain. I mean I'm listening and I think I'm understanding, but can you explain this amp coil a little more to me?

Suzanne:

Sure. So it uses sound and electromagnetic fields, so magnets. It uses sounds and magnets to excite ourselves, help them breathe and dump their garbage. So it eventually, over time, when you use it consistently, clears energetic pathways so the body can heal itself. Because we have to remember that the body is this self-cleaning oven. It's not how to heal itself, but there is just so much crap in its way, right, when you think about all the toxins, you think about the pesticides, the metals, the molds, the bacteria, the parasites, the Wi-Fi, all the things that are pulling ourselves out of tune and preventing them from operating at their optimum frequencies the way they should. When you think of it that way, it's like oh yeah, that makes sense, right? So this machine tells yourself like here's where you should be, here's where you should be functioning, here's how you should feel, and it shifts the energy and really helps with all of those symptoms. It's very targeted too.

Suzanne:

So, like you know, there are general journeys. They call them journeys which is kind of like a song, although you don't really hear the music that there are general journeys, like the harmonizer, which works with horizontal and vertical alignment and grounding and chakras and a little emotions and some spinal and some nutrition and a little brain and nervous system. It's like a wonderful general groovy journey. Then there's a relaxal which helps to calm the nervous system and ease racing thoughts and then there's deep sleep and headache help and hormone harmony, which is amazing and works with all the hormones upper hormones like melatonin, serotonin, you know, the pineal gland, the pituitary. It also works with metabolism and your thyroid and thymus and immune cell production, and then adrenals and reproductive organs.

Suzanne:

There's positivity that helps with depression and neurotransmitters and things like that. And then it gets a little deeper where you can go in and you can detox the liver or detox the brain or detox airways, like this morning I woke up with a sore throat so I ran airway because generally when I have a sore throat it will knock out whatever's going on and there are digestive journeys and then there's an emotions detox and then there's an A to Z library. So if you know that you're diagnosed with something so if you know that you have Epstein-Barr virus or chronic fatigue or parasites or a bacterial infection like STAFF, you know you could go in and select those items and then run journeys for those things. So it goes from like very high level stuff like harmonizer, to STAFF.

Jen:

Okay, so how often do you use it?

Suzanne:

So I use it all the time. I mean, I consider myself to be 100% healthy, but, like I just mentioned, I woke up with a sore throat, so I'm running airway today. Over the weekend I actually did an amp coil party. I'm a practitioner now and so over the weekend I actually did an amp coil party where, which one of my friends organized, and 10 people came and, depending on what those people needed, I ran different journeys for them. So one woman really wanted to run hormone harmony, which is something that I run every two weeks on myself and I'm 52. I've been in menopause for two years and I have not had one hot flash or one menopausal symptom, which is amazing. And another man wanted an emotions detox because he's always just like so worried about everything and he also mentioned childhood trauma. So we ran an emotions detox on him and then a few hours later I asked how are you doing? And he said, like I don't give a. And I said, really, you know?

Jen:

and he said yeah, I'm just not worried about anything anymore.

Suzanne:

It's amazing and I was like, okay, great, you know so. So it can be used for so many different things that I still use it all the time.

Jen:

I kind of feel like the one that you did for him. Everybody needs that.

Suzanne:

I know Well. So on January 1, I actually offered a, a remote group session for an emotions detox and 29 people joined, like around the world, which was really cool. And yeah, there were there were someone in the Netherlands, someone in Scotland, someone in Australia, so that was really fun and it was so strong. And I think it was so strong because so many people were on it, like I felt. I went to get up after the session and I was like Whoa that is amazing. Yeah, it's really cool, it's super fun.

Jen:

See, you've walked us through your journey of how you were oh gosh, so many years ago to where you are now. Now you're a practitioner, and I think you also mentioned to me earlier that you're an author. What is your book and what is it about?

Suzanne:

So I've written two. I published two books previously, which are young adult novels. One is called Fingerprints and the other one is called Choosing Tally, and the book that I am working on now is I wrote a memoir called Preexisting Conditions, which is about my seven year journey healing chronic Lyme disease in a country with for profit healthcare. So it contains a lot of what we just talked about, obviously, but it but it also, I would say the major theme is about is about preexisting conditions and which, for me, preexisting conditions meant meant trauma.

Suzanne:

So so one of one of the biggest things I learned in my journey was that the issues are in the tissues and that if we don't address trauma emotional trauma, mental trauma, not physical trauma if we don't, if we don't address that trauma, then it is very difficult to heal the physical body, because mind, body and spirit are all connected, and and so for me, the preexisting conditions were things like, you know, feeling unsafe as a child and then and then having my like my first boyfriend was abusive, so an abusive relationship in my teenage years and then and then losing my job and my home and the 2008 financial crash, then my best friend Stacy dying and my beloved granny dying. And then so, like you know, trauma after trauma after trauma, when not addressed, become the preexisting conditions that create the perfect bio terrain for dis ease. And so it all made sense. You know, as I was going through the journey, I started to realize oh.

Suzanne:

This is all connection. You know, this is all connected and and I've got to address these things and so did it worked really hard to To address those traumas and I'm still addressing them. I mean, you know, trauma is happening every single day, and especially on a on a world level. I mean, we are, we are constantly being battered with trauma after trauma, after trauma, and we're just sort of going, oh okay, well, what are we gonna have for dinner?

Jen:

you know, yeah, I think we spend half of our time in survival mode of going from one trauma to the next and and getting through it. And once we're through it, do we go back and address it? No, because we're. We're preparing for the next one. Yes, yes.

Suzanne:

Yes, yes and yes. And something else that I that I learned was that, you know, the body cannot heal when it is in a state of fight or flight, and so so for me it was, it was learning well, how, how am I gonna calm the nervous system, how am I going to get into that state where, where you know, the, the amygdala is functioning and I'm and I'm, I'm in rest and and digest, and the body is calm enough to actually address itself and heal? And so I mean, for me that meant breathwork, meditation. That was incredibly, incredibly powerful for me. It definitely works to helps to aerate the cells, help them breathe, but also bring your body into a, into a, into a relaxed state. Also, the EFT tapping, also obviously, the amp coil and energy healing and things like that. But we have to continue to do that on a daily basis and those, those things need to be practiced consistently because, like you said, we're always waiting for the next thing. Our bodies are always prepared for what's coming next.

Jen:

Yeah, and it's not easy. Our bodies don't want to be in that fight or flight mode all the time, no, so what kind of tips and encouragement would you give to people that have been going through the same kind of things that you've gone through?

Suzanne:

Yeah, I mean I would say keep that in mind, that the issues are in the tissues and that, and that the body holds trauma, the body holds emotions. Stuck emotions will prevent us from from healing. So if you're not getting relief, if you're not finding yeah, if you're not, if you're not getting relief from whatever methods you're using, it could be because there is something emotional or some kind of trauma blocking the situation I actually have. I have clients who will come to me with shoulder pain. Let's say I have, you know, I have this pain in my shoulder. So we'll run a pain release and see if that helps.

Suzanne:

And if the pain release doesn't help, well then maybe we'll run. We'll run something from muscles, fashion legum ins and then see if that helps. And if that doesn't help, then you know I, I suggest an emotions detox. Let's do an emotions detox, let's see what is in your shoulder, what's stuck there, and if we can clear it. And we run the emotions detox and nine times out of ten that pain goes away. So it's just a really good example of how how Emotions and trauma can prevent us from healing. Emotions and trauma can prevent us from healing.

Jen:

I'm so fascinated. I mean I'm fascinated, I'm intrigued. I feel like I could listen to you for hours and I'm trying to make sure I ask all the appropriate questions, because I don't want to leave anything out. Okay, so Are you able to help people that are not local to you, like you did this, this online event that you were talking about earlier? How does that work?

Suzanne:

Yes, so I do remote sessions, and so it works anyway, at the same way that any that you might have a remote session with an energy healer. It's the same thing. I mean energy is energy, right, and if I'm sending it to you, you are going to get it, and so as long as you are open to it. And so it's as simple as saying before the session, saying Cells receive the frequencies Susanna sending me, and that's it. Get in a comfy spot, drink some water. The frequencies love water, water love frequencies, loves frequencies, and and and receive the frequencies. So it works. It works anywhere, at any time. It's amazing.

Jen:

Wow, my mind is going like a million miles a minute going. I think you need your own podcast. I Mean the ideas. The ideas are there. Who or what brings you sunshine on your days of Difficulty, although it sounds like you're not having that much anymore compared to what you were having before but but who or what Brings you that sunshine?

Suzanne:

Going outside, you know, just being outside. So right now I'm actually Visiting my dad and he lives on on his property. There are some redwood trees and some really old oaks, like I mean, I think one of them is almost 200 years old, and Just putting my hands on those trees or hugging those trees I know I sound crazy with the tree hugging, but oh my gosh it you can feel the energy just walking on this kind of ground and seeing and also the mountains. So my mom lives in the mountains and when I go visit her it's like they're like energy vortexes, it's just, it's just incredible. And then I live near the beach in LA, so you know, going for a walk on the beach just For me, soothes everything.

Jen:

And that sounds like the best of all worlds. You get the mountains, you get the trees, you get the beach. You're getting a little bit of everything. All the good things. I'm trying are there any resources that you would recommend to listeners?

Suzanne:

Yeah, I mean obviously the amp coil but, but I, for me, the most helpful things were energy healing. We have to remember, our bodies are energy right and so if we can shift that energy in any way, whether that's reiki, whether it's energy healing, whether it's magnets, whether it's I Mean even even manual manipulation, like with the osteopath I described, or I mean physical therapy and Pilates, anything to get the body moving and Stuck, to move that energy, anything that moves energy. I just recently started doing some. I'm doing a trade with someone who does a neuro muscular release technology and it's I mean, it's incredible. He presses like on a part of my body and it feels like like you can feel like the energy just shooting. It's just incredible. He releases these energy points that are stuck and it's just that's incredible.

Suzanne:

There's so many awesome modalities out there that are just so fun to try. So that's what I would recommend If you hear about something and it comes across your radar, try it, because why not? It'll be fun and interesting at the very least, and could have a profound effect on you.

Jen:

And just because something sounds woohoo doesn't mean it's not worth trying Absolutely. If we're willing to try doxycycline or amitriptyline or any of those things or specialists, then why not be open to other things as well? Because we don't know what our body needs and what's going to help.

Suzanne:

Absolutely, absolutely. And on that note, I mean it took me a while, but now that I kind of step back and look at and this is not to say that drugs don't work or pharmaceuticals don't work or that they're not important in some situations that is not what I'm saying and I'm obviously not a doctor and I'm not giving medical advice. But I will say, when I started to keep in mind that pharmaceuticals the doxycycline, the amitriptyline, everything you just mentioned that's a business, right? So when we keep in mind that that's a business and we keep in mind that we've been conditioned to believe that we go to the doctor, we get a pill and then we feel better for a reason because it's a business, when you keep in mind, then for me it made it easier to go.

Suzanne:

Okay, well, maybe I'll try something else, because if those things aren't working for me, then I should try something else. But it, just keeping in mind that it's a business, made it easier for me to go. Oh, maybe this isn't so woo-woo, right. Maybe going to this Ayurvedic lady who can read my tongue isn't so woo-woo, maybe she's the one who has the answers.

Jen:

So Absolutely, and to keep in mind also that sometimes these things work together Absolutely, and that's okay to have that outlook as well. There's not necessarily a wrong or right answer, because all of us are so different and what our needs are are so different.

Suzanne:

Absolutely everybody is different and I will tell you that in my journey my Lyme journey so I had Epstein-Barr virus was one of my co-infections and that's what was giving me the daily fevers and just feeling like I had a bowling ball head and couldn't get out of bed and I mean it was horrible. And I did find a really good Western Lyme specialist who was up here near San Francisco and she prescribed me Valtrex, an antiviral for the Epstein-Barr, and that was a game changer. Like I am so grateful that she did that because that stopped. Within a few days my daily fevers stopped and then I was able to like okay, now I can like sit at a computer and do a little work and I started to function a little bit better. So there are times when those drugs are lifesavers. So yes, everybody is different.

Jen:

Yes, and I think that's a great example right there, because there are times where we might be prescribed something and I think everyone's gone through that at least once, if not many times where that thing is not what our body actually needs.

Suzanne:

Yep.

Jen:

It just is what it is, and we have to try to open our minds up a little bit better. Yeah, yeah, well, wow, I feel like we've covered so much. I mean, we're 42 minutes in and I feel like we could talk for hours. But what is the best way for people to reach out to you if they want to try what you have to offer or ask you questions?

Suzanne:

They can go to susancastementocom. There's a bookings page there. So if you wanna book a remote session or an in-person session in Los Angeles, you can come there. And also I am on Instagram at susancastemento and I talk all about Ampoil there and I'm also on TikTok, so just look around and I'm there.

Jen:

Woohoo, okay, I'm here for it. I'm gonna go find your TikTok. I'm not on there all the time. I have one myself. It's just oh great. I'm not great at it, it's not my thing. I'm trying.

Suzanne:

We have to follow each other.

Jen:

Yeah, I'm gonna go find and follow you, all right. Well, thank you so much for joining. Thank you, this was so much fun. Yeah, absolutely. I'm sure that we're gonna have to have you back and talk about more amazing things. Yes, all right, my spoony sisters, Until next time, don't forget your spoon.
